The neighborhood

My favorite thing about Seattle is that no matter how big it gets, it still manages to feel wild. You only have to drive across the Ship Canal bridge either direction, any time of day, and be blown away by the natural beauty of this place.

Wallingford is nested on a hill just above the north shore of Lake Union and the iconic Gas Works park, four miles from Seattle’s downtown core. One of the original streetcar suburbs of the city, its streets are lined with early 20th century box homes and bungalows, and is convenient to Fremont and the University District. Wallingford’s commercial district is along 45th Ave, just a few blocks from the house. You’ll find a QFC grocery with deli, plus well-established and hype-free pubs, bars, coffee shops and eateries.

To the South: Gas Works Park (borders the Burke-Gilman Trail), Meridian Playground, Wallingford Playfield.

To the North: Woodland Park and Zoo, and Greenlake, a glacial lake surrounded by a 2.8mi (4.5km) paved path.
